Everything you learn in Sincelang stays on your device. From version 1.2.0 the iOS app also sends anonymous usage data, so we can see how the app is used and where people get stuck. You can turn that off in the app at any time. There are no accounts and no ads.
To learn how Sincelang is used, the app sends anonymous usage data to Google Analytics for Firebase, a service of Google that processes it on our behalf: which screens are opened, when a learning session starts and finishes and how many items it had, how a review was graded and when a word becomes mastered (for example "good" or "again", never which word it was), and the daily goal you chose. It also includes technical information such as the app version, the device model, the operating system version, your language and approximate region (from the network address, which is not stored in full), and a random identifier generated by the app on your device.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or anything you type. There are no user accounts, and you do not need to sign in to use the app.
The app does not read your advertising identifier, does not show the tracking-permission prompt, contains no advertising, and does not use this data to track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell it, and we do not build a profile of you.
Usage data is kept for up to 14 months from your last activity in the app. Age, gender and interest information, if Google derives any, is kept for 2 months. After that it is deleted automatically.
Profile → Preferences → Share anonymous usage data is on by default. Turn it off at any time: the app stops collecting at once and resets the identifier that Google Analytics uses. A second random identifier, the Firebase installation identifier created the first time the app starts, stays on your device and is not changed by the switch.
Everything you do in the app — the words you learn, your review history, progress, streaks, and settings — is stored only on your device. It is never sent to us. The usage data above is separate from it and contains none of your vocabulary and nothing you type.
Sincelang works fully offline. Usage data is kept on the device and sent when a connection is available. When the app starts, it also asks our server (sincelang.iocar.app) whether a newer version is required. That request carries no identifier and no cookies; like any internet request, it reaches the server from your network address. Without a connection the app simply continues.
If you choose to use voice-based practice features, the app may request microphone and speech-recognition access. Speech is processed to check your pronunciation and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted — no audio or transcript is saved. You can decline these permissions and continue using the rest of the app.
The app collects no personal information, only the anonymous usage data described above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting the app removes all of your learning data from your device. To stop usage data being collected, turn the switch above off; data already sent is deleted automatically after the retention period above.
If we add features that change how data is handled (for example, optional cloud sync in the future), we will update this policy and the app store privacy information before that feature ships.
